Even though he enjoyed a sliver of success as a struggling actor in the early to mid-1980s, Steven Peterman really made his mark on Hollywood through his work as a television writer and executive producer. The Milwaukee native briefly spent time acting on Broadway before heading to southern California in the hopes of making it as a big-time actor. Peterman did decently, in roles mostly of the semi-recurring variety on everything from the 1982 CBS sitcom "Square Pegs" to the 1984 Showtime legal series "The Paper Chase." By 1987, he decided to give writing a shot and that same year, he was hired to write an episode for the NBC sitcom "Amen." After penning an episode for "A Different World" the following year, Peterman was added to the writing staff of the Candice Bergen comedy "Murphy Brown." After rising through the ranks to become an executive producer, he left in 1994, reappearing as a writer/executive producer on the Brooke Shields series "Suddenly Susan." Peterman left the show in 1999 and afterwards enjoyed brief writing stints for the Ted Danson sitcom "Becker" and spent some time penning episodes for the 2005 animated program "W.I.T.C.H."
